how clean are your dishes? GIVEAWAY!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED

If you're like me, you have a hard time hitting the sheets at night if there are any dishes in the sink. The thought of waking up to a sink full of dishes makes me not want to get out of bed in the morning. So I have this nightly ritual of going through the kitchen and picking it up and filling the dishwasher and running it. Ahhh....fresh clean dishes in the morning, now that's a reason to get out of bed in the morning (okay, that was cheesey...haha!). Anyway, I was so excited when I received this fun challenge from MyBlogSpark and Cascade Complete.

I was sent a Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPac kit along with a $25 gift card to Walmart for one of you lucky readers to use to try out Cascade Complete for yourself! In the ActionPac kit there was a white baking dish with a lid, a recipe for a yummy cobbler, a package of Cascade Complete and the $25 gift card. The challenge consisted of baking a cobbler from the recipe and then after it was eaten all up, instead of rinsing the dish, let it sit out for 24 hours and then put in dishwasher, still without rinsing, with a tablet of the Cascade Complete.

So I actually had to do this challenge twice because the first time I did it, I completely forgot to take a picture of the dish before I placed it in the dishwasher and I really wanted to show how dirty and caked on the food was. So, after all the hecticness (is that a word?) of Evan's birthday, I made a second cobbler so that I could take a picture this time. The first cobbler I made was with apples and the second one was with cherries....they were both GOOOOOD!

Anywho, after all the cherry goodness was gone, I set the dish out overnight and into the next evening and placed it in the dishwasher as I ran some evening errands. When I arrived home, I was actually excited to check the dishwasher to see how clean the dish had gotten. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found!

Here's the before.....

And here's the after....

With the exception of some minor brownish residue along the top rim of the dish, it was perfectly clean! This was very exciting because I've always been the one who practically washes the dishes to then put them in the dishwasher. I'm just always worried to put anything in the dishwasher if it hasn't been completely scrubbed of food. But this was exciting! Yay! No more scrubbing! I'm definitely going to be using Cascade Complete from now on!

So, how about you? Would you like to try out the Cascade Complete All-in-1 challenge for yourself? What better excuse to eat a yummy hot from the oven cobbler? I can't think of any! hahaha! All you have to do to win a $25 gift card to Walmart to purchase a package for yourself, is the following:

1. Leave me a comment telling me how you prepare your dishes for the dishwasher and do you let dishes sit in your sink overnight or are you like me who has to have the sink free and clear?

2. Leave me another comment letting me know you follow my blog or became a new follower

And that's it! I thought that this was a fun challenge and I was so excited to be able to eat two cobblers because I *had* to! hahaha!

I'll hold this giveaway open until Wednesday June 9th at 11:59pm and the winner will be announced sometime on Thursday June 10th. Open to US residents only.

And because I thought that the recipe was so delicious and super duper easy, I thought that I'd share it with you! So here you go!

Blueberry* Cobbler Recipe
*I didn't have any blueberries so I just used two cans of apple pie filling the first time and then two cans of cherry pie filling the second time.

Filling:
1 pint (2 cups) of fresh blueberries
1 can of blueberry pie filling

Crust:
1 stick of butter
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup of sugar
2 packets of instant oatmeal (I used 1 cup instant oatmeal from a tub instead of the individual packets)
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix blueberries and pie filling in the bottom of the baking dish*. In separate bowl, melt butter, and add all dry ingredients. Stir with a fork until mixed (this should be crumbly). Sprinkle crust over filling and bake for 30 minutes. The filling should be bubbly, and the crust should be slightly brown and crunchy.
*I just filled the bottom of the dish with the two cans of pie filling.

  1. LOL!! You're so funny! :D I think that sounds like a great reason to eat a cobbler too! That worked great, it looks like!!

I do rinse all my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. It drives my husband crazy and he makes fun of me for having a "dirty" side of the sink and a "rinsed" side. He and the girls know they put their dirty dishes in the left side (because it has the disposal) and the rinsed ones in the right side. So, then I load the dishwasher when I get a chance, but I HATE when dishes are left out and not rinsed because it makes it so hard to scrub them.

  2. I forgot to mention that I will bite their heads off if they put their dirty dish in the rinsed side. Haha!!

You know I follow your blog too! :)

  3. What a fun challenge! The cobbler sounds yummy! I'm supposed to be trying to lose weight here pretty soon and with this recipe, this is not going to be easy.

Anyway...you are way better than me in that you make sure to do your dishes every night! I love seeing a clean kitchen in the morning, but I'm terrible at doing my dishes every night. I usually just let them sit there but I ALWAYS do the pre-rinse thing. I hate having crusted on food to have to deal with later! :(

  4. I need my sink to be clear! I just scrub them and then put them in. I sometimes soak if a dish is really bad but that's pretty rare.

  6. I can't stand to leave the dishes in the sink overnight. I just do a quick rinse before putting them in the dishwasher.

  7. I actually *don't* use our dishwasher anymore {that's right, never} because even though I would rinse all of my dishes {scrub, actually}, I would still have problems with dishes not coming out clean. I thought, "why waste all my time washing the dishes before and after they go through the dishwasher? I'll just wash them all by hand". And that's what I've been doing.

  10. I also put my dishes in the dishwasher before I go to bed. Then in the morning when my daughter is eating breakfast I unload. That way all throughout the day I just rinse a dish and put it straight into the dishwasher. Works out well!

  13. it depends on my mood. usually a clean sink puts me in a better mood. but if i'm too lazy i just leave them. :0) i'm not a rinser though. i'm a leaver. i'll just leave the dirty stuff in the dishwasher until it comes clean, or til my hubby cleans it.

  14. I don't do anything with my dishes, with the exception of scraping off large pieces of food, otherwise they go right into the dishwasher
